Published by YOU, no middleman: Ghost Publishing is just like ghostwriting—but with your book’s publishing. In short, a ghostwriter takes your ideas, crafts a manuscript, hands it back to you and you take all the credit. You have all the control and the final say. No one even needs to know your book is ghostwritten (unless you’re a celebrity or politician, of course).
With Ghost Publishing, you hand us your finished manuscript, and we get it into final book form. And you take all the credit. Throughout the process you have total control, final say and everything is registered in your name. You become an independently published author who looks traditionally published—the “done-for-you” easy way! Go ahead. Let us do the work. We’ll even let you take the credit for a fantastically produced book.
Laser Strategy Call with Kristen: Whether your package includes 15 minutes or a full hour, a laser strategy call with Kristen will give you the motivation and steps you need to get your book done quickly and professionally. During the call there are no limits—you ask as many questions as you can and Kristen will answer them. You will hang up excited about your project and with the clear direction you need to get it written, published and marketed!
Personalized one-on-one attention from Kristen herself: No matter what package you choose, you will get one-on-one attention. Unlike the big vanity publishers, you will not have to wait days for answers to your questions or spend tens of thousands of dollars just so you can be assigned a “representative.” Kristen is like the midwife for your book baby, there when you need her most!
ISBN Registration in your name: If you want any retailer to sell your book, you must have an International Standard Book Number for the identification of your title in the retailers’ databases. This 13-digit number is unique to your book and allows distributors, retailers, printers and readers to accurately find and order it. We will handle the registration of 10 ISBNs for you—no nitty gritty paperwork! (U.S. ISBN agency’s fee: $250)
LCCN Registration in your name: A Library of Congress Control Number makes your book available to more than 5,000 U.S. libraries. It is used to catalog books in the Library of Congress in Washington, D.C., the largest library in the world. Your package includes the registration work done for you as well as the required fulfillment of one copy of your book to the Library of Congress.
Printer account setup in your name: We recommend a specific printer for most books and will handle the application and account setup process for you—in your name. At your graduation from the program, Kristen will schedule a one-on-one training session to walk you through your printer account back office to track sales, drop ship orders anywhere in the world, order books for yourself and more.
Bowkerlink registration in your name: Bowkerlink is the main database bookstores use to access information about your book. It is an essential part of the publishing process, so let us handle the registration process for you.
Distribution to over 25,000 online retailers: Including Barnes and Noble and Amazon, this distribution system is the best in the world. It is the same system through Ingram Book Group and Baker and Taylor that the big publishing houses use and enables your book to be ordered from thousands of online and retail stores around the world. (Distributor’s fee: $12/year)
Marketability to brick & mortar stores: If you want your book stocked on bookstore shelves, there are certain settings the retailer requires. No other publishing system offers access to bookstores in this way without thousands of additional dollars out of your pocket! The I am Published! program makes sure those doors are open to you, enabling you to compete a little easier with the big guys.
Bookseller’s Return Program: Only one of the requirements to be stocked on bookstore shelves, every book we set up is guaranteed returnable. Vanity publishers have been known to offer this “service” for over $800 per year! We understand you want to maximize the marketability of your book, which means all your books are set up properly without ridiculous additional annual fees.
U.S. Copyright registration: We handle the registration of U.S. copyright (where applicable) for you upon your book’s release. This registration gives you additional protection under copyright law if anyone should use your work without your permission. We will send two copies of your book to the federal copyright office in Washington, D.C. as the last piece of the publishing process. It typically takes 6 to 12 months for you to receive your certificate, but your book content is protected as soon as we register it. (Copyright office’s fee: $35)
File setup with the printer and distributor: We will handle submitting the high resolution files of your book to the printer for you. Many things can be done wrong in the initial distribution setup process, and sometimes it can be confusing. By letting us handle it for you, the crucial points of your book’s setup will be done accurately by a professional. (Printer’s setup fee: $75)
Author Volume Discounts: Vanity publishers will say you get the same thing, but we have even better news! Not only will you never pay a marked-up price for your book, but when you order 50 or more copies from the printer we recommend, they will give you additional discounts on the print cost! Both of these features (paying only print or below print cost) enable you to set a retail price for your book that is looked favorably upon by bookstores.
Hardcopy Proof: As required by our recommended printer, we will place the order of your hardcopy proof for you to be shipped overnight to your home or business. This proof will look and feel exactly like your finished book—because it is your finished book! (Printer’s proof fee: $30)
Multiple format options: Your book will be produced in softcover or hardcover format with either a matte or glossy cover. Unlike vanity publishers trying to add “value” by giving you both formats in a package, we understand that just confuses buyers as to which format to purchase when a book is first released. This is why traditional publishers release most books in hardcover first, then 6 months later offer the softcover and ebook versions. Sometimes they offer softcover first, which is what we recommend to maximize book sales.
Custom cover design: Our professional book designers understand that a front and back cover needs to be created 100% from scratch to match the unique content you have written. Instead of a “template” that makes your book look like it’s part of someone else’s series, we only offer fully custom professional book cover designs. Your custom design includes one stock photo or we can use your photos or artwork. And unlike some vanity publishers, we’ll even throw in the design of the spine at no additional charge.
Copy Editing: Up to 100 pages will be copy-edited for spelling, grammar, punctuation and consistency. This type of editing keeps your original content intact while giving it a polished look. The changes are tracked so you can see exactly what the editor has done. All the editors on our team use the Chicago Manual of Style, the primary style guide for books and all of them have been pre-screened for quality before touching one of our authors’ books. “Page” specs: 1″ margins, 1.5 spacing, Arial size 11 font in a Microsoft Word document.
Custom black and white interior layout: Traditional publishers understand the way the pages between the cover look is equally as important as the cover imagery. To keep consistency in the branding for your book, our book design team will lay out a fully custom interior that matches your cover and flows nicely to make it pleasing to the reader’s eye. In short, we take your messy Microsoft Word document and make it pretty.
Image/graphic insertions: Up to 20 images or graphics (provided by you) will be inserted in the layout of your book where you want them to appear. Images and graphics must be high resolution and adhere to the printer’s guidelines.
Custom full-color interior layout: Cookbooks are the most common types of full-color printed books. The interior layout process is much different for these types of books than typical black and white books. Taking your supplied high resolution artwork and/or photos, our book design team will create a knockout full color design for the interior of your book. There are no limits to the number of images that can be inserted, but keep in mind that the higher the page count, the more expensive the book is to print.
Up to 3 revisions to cover design: We understand you may need to make changes to the color, layout or images on your cover. You may also get a killer testimonial at the last minute that you want inserted on the back cover. Our design team includes up to 3 revisions to your cover for this purpose.
Up to 3 revisions to interior layout: We understand you may need to make changes to the text, layout or images on your book’s interior. Our design team includes up to 3 revisions to your interior layout for this purpose. Keep in mind that we expect your manuscript to be edited before the interior is designed, so excessive typos may incur an additional fee.
Pricing market research: Kristen will personally analyze the market for your book and give you three pricing recommendations (low, mid-range and high) with a breakdown of your profit margins. You are still free to choose any retail price for your book, and with this additional knowledge you will be able to make a solid informed decision.
E-book file formatting: Our design team and computer programmers work together to format an e-book version of your book that will flow cleanly, read well and be a professional reflection on you. This e-book will be readable on the Kindle, Sony Reader, iPad and Nook, as well as multiple mobile devices.
E-book distribution setup: We will handle the account registration and setup of your e-book with one of the major e-book distributors. Your e-book will be available on the Kindle Store, iBookstore, Sony Reader Store and Nook Store. (Distributor’s fee: $99 per title, then $19/year)
Amazon Search Inside account and file setup: Amazon’s Search Inside program has been proven to increase sales of books on Amazon.com. Our team will set up your Search Inside account for you and submit your book to the program.
Book Signing Kit: Many independent retailers require you to provide your own signs and marketing material for your book signings. Our Book Signing Kit will give you custom-designed (no templates here!) printed materials to conduct a successful book signing! The Kit includes: 10 full-color laminated 11 x 17 posters, 1,000 full-color, heavy-stock, glossy invitation-style postcards and 250 glossy half-page size, two-sided fliers.

The Kit contains custom-designed printed materials including: 500 each of full-color, heavy stock, two-sided business cards, postcards and bookmarks.
